friday night in burque and you've got options. free delta blues at Solid Grounds, Brazilian Carnival at Juno for five bucks, a stacked double bill at Rufina Taproom Second Street Brew, and that's not even the full list. this city does not let up on weekends and we love it.

today

tonight's the night for all you book lovers. Cafecito Book Club is meeting up at The Drop Cafe at 6pm to talk about Give Me A Reason by Jayci Lee (you should be up to chapter 12, so if you're behind, you've got a few hours to speed read). if you've been looking for a chill, community-driven book club in burque, this is a really good one to check out. via @cafecitoclub.nm

if you're into blues, tonight is your night. Chris Dracup is bringing that acoustic slide guitar magic to Solid Grounds at the Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living (4374 Alexander Blvd NE, Suite T). doors open at 6:30 PM, music kicks off at 7:00 PM, and it's free with donations welcomed. delta blues on a Friday night for zero dollars is the kind of thing we live to put you on to (seriously, this dude's slide guitar work is the real deal). via @chris.dracup

tonight Juno is throwing their Annual Brazilian Carnival and this is one of those events that just hits different in the middle of a Burque winter. doors at 8:30pm, $5 cover at the door, and you're getting live DJ sets with forró and samba all night. if you've never experienced Brazilian Carnival energy in person, do yourself a favor and get in that room tonight. via @juno_abq

today is the last day to submit artwork for the Student Art Contest: Balloons Over Route 66 at the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. if you've got a K-12 student in the house who loves to draw, paint, or create, this is their shot. they're looking for original artwork of hot air balloons celebrating the Route 66 Centennial, and up to 50 submissions will be selected, enlarged, and printed for a full year-long exhibit display (that's huge for a young artist). featured artists and their families get invited to an opening reception too. get those submissions in before the deadline hits tonight. via @balloonmuseum

tonight at Rufina Taproom Second Street Brew, you're getting a double bill of Jacob Shije and Betty Benedeadly, and it's free. Jacob Shije is an Indigenous musician out of Santa Clara Pueblo whose sound pulls from Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and Roy Orbison (yes please), and Betty Benedeadly brings this wild twang-edelic, banjitar-driven thing that spans experimental folk, indie bluegrass, and surf rock (she's also co-founder of Sheverb if that rings a bell). this is one of those lineups that deserves a packed room, so get there. via @secondstreetbrewery

Daydream Rum Bar is hosting a Worthy Park Estate rum tasting tonight and this sounds like such a good friday night move. three 100% copper pot-still rums from Jamaica, all high-ester and funk-forward, plus a snaquiri (yes, snaquiri). ticket required so grab yours through their bio link before they're gone. via @daydreamrumbar

the buzz

Peso Pluma bringing the DINASTÍA tour to Isleta Amphitheater on March 24 is the kind of announcement that makes you proud to be in the 505. over 2,200 likes on the post alone, which tells you exactly how hyped burque is for this one. tickets are already on sale so if you've been sleeping on it, now's the time before they're gone. via @isleta.amphitheater

The Kid Laroi is bringing the A Perfect World Tour to Revel Entertainment Center on June 1 with special guest Tommy Richman, and honestly the fact that burque is on this tour route is a big deal. acts like this choosing the duke city says so much about where Albuquerque is headed as a live music market. keep your eyes on Revel for ticket details because this one is going to move fast. via @revelabq

the ABQ BioPark Zoo is celebrating International Polar Bear Day on Saturday, February 28 with discovery stations, activities, and a keeper chat at 11 am, all running from 10 am to 2 pm. the timing actually lines up with when wild polar bear moms and cubs are hunkered down in their dens, which makes the whole thing feel way more intentional than your average zoo event. love seeing the BioPark lean into education like this, it's the kind of thing that makes you proud burque has a facility that genuinely cares about connecting people to the bigger picture. via @abqbiopark

Balloon Fiesta season is months away but the hype machine is already rolling. the official page just dropped some behind-the-scenes footage of a chase crew member working inside a balloon during prep and it's the kind of content that reminds you how much work goes into making this thing happen. October 3-11, 2026, mark it now. via @balloonfiesta

THISISCYCLOPS with Zaiya-Jin and SoFly at Electric Playhouse on March 6 is already generating serious buzz, pulling 233 likes and a comments section full of people tagging their crews. that kind of energy weeks before an event even happens tells you burque's electronic and bass scene is thriving right now, and spots like Electric Playhouse keep giving it a real home. 21+, and you're gonna want to get on this early. via @playelectric_events

friday night in the duke city and the options are stupid good tonight, so get out there and make some moves.
