scottre humphrey is running it back for lobo football and this is exactly the kind of move burque needs to see. if you want elite local talent staying home instead of bouncing to other programs, now's the time to show up , the real ones giving campaign is live and it's all about keeping big-time players choosing albuquerque. via @unmloboathletics

the Albuquerque Sunport gave the UNM Lobo men's basketball team a send-off as they headed out to face Grand Canyon University (love seeing the city show up for the team like this). safe travels and go lobos. via @abq.sunport

the Albuquerque Museum is bringing back Third Thursday Community Evening on february 19 and if you missed the first one this year you missed out (235 people were hyped about it). it's a whole community night with collaborators and activities, details dropping soon but mark it now. via @abqmuseumfoundation

ex novo brewery just teamed up with the laundry project to help 44 families wash 474 loads of laundry at linen fresh laundry (that's over 4,700 pounds). this is the start of an ongoing partnership to serve the community, which honestly is exactly the kind of thing burque needs more of via @exnovobrewabq.

harwood art center is accepting proposals for their 14th annual juried show for emerging artists across new mexico, and if you've been creating but haven't had the platform yet, this is it. any media counts (painting, printmaking, digital, experimental, whatever you're working in) and the deadline is march 2 at 11:59pm. applications and full details on their page via @harwoodartcenter.

mesa provisions just dropped a new cocktail called the sauce and it's based on their scallop crudo dish (the one where people literally want to drink the sauce). coconut-infused absolut elyx, passionfruit, lemongrass, fresno chile, and lime. when a dish is that good they turn it into a drink, you know it's the move via @mesa_provisions_abq.

indian pueblo kitchen brought feast day stew, bone-in posole, and pueblo bread to the roadrunner food bank souper bowl and the line didn't stop (all for a good cause, supporting rrfb's work ending hunger in new mexico) via @indianpueblokitchen.

rio grande lounge at hyatt regency tamaya has valentine's drink specials that look ridiculously pretty: the sweetheart spritz (topped with actual cotton candy) and the rio love with gin, st-germain, lavender and cranberry bitters. via @hyattregencytamaya

the buzz

the open cup is coming back to new mexico and new mexico black & yellow is hosting cruizers fc at the unm soccer complex on march 18 at 7:30pm. this is huge for burque soccer,the open cup is the oldest tournament in american soccer and having a match here means the city's getting recognized on a national level. tickets drop soon so keep an eye on their page if you want in via @newmexicoutd.

freddie dredd is bringing the back to hell tour to the sunshine theater on april 26th and this is a big one for burque's underground scene. phonk has been quietly taking over and now one of the genre's biggest names is stopping here, all ages so the younger crowd that's been pushing this sound can actually show up. check sunshine's page for tickets (they go on sale friday) via @sunshinetheaterabq

Lost Cultures Tea Bar is hosting a collage & cake night on wednesday 2/18 where you can dig through vintage magazines and paper goods to make whatever you want while eating cake from a local baker. all materials included, intimate vibe, just crafty people doing crafty things. this is the kind of low-key community thing burque does so well (vintage paper, cake, and meeting people who actually want to make things together instead of just scrolling) via @wildflourchild.
